Repeat order from ArcelorMittal for an AUMUND drag chain conveyor

Proven and robust solution

Steel producer ArcelorMittal places its trust in proven solutions in Brazil. Just under 20 years after the commissioning of a shockpressure-proof drag chain conveyor from LOUISE, AUMUND Fördertechnik has won a new order to supply a LOUISE-type drag chain conveyor to ArcelorMittal in Brazil, with dispatch planned for June 2017. The predecessor model of this drag chain conveyor had been ordered in 1998 by Cia. Siderurgica Belgo-Mineira (CSBM), at the time the Brazilian subsidiary of the Luxemburg steel company, Arbed. Arcelor was born of the merger between Aceralia and Usinor and later joined with Mittal in 2006 to become the leading global steel concern, ArcelorMittal.

Around 15 years ago, AUMUND Fördertechnik GmbH integrated the products of the LOUISE subsidiary into its own portfolio. This double strand drag chain conveyor with a capacity of 3 kW, a centre distance of 10.4 m and a performance of 25 t/h, will be used for bunker extraction.

The machine it is replacing proved its durability in an interesting way. One of the supports of a weighing cell collapsed and caused one side of the silo to subside. A large portion of the fallen steelwork weighing several tonnes came to rest on the discharge conveyor. If it had not been for the strength of this machine, the silo may well have collapsed completely, and the damage would have been far more extensive.
